Pickleball tournaments in Sydney
Play Pickle runs social and competitive pickleball tournaments across Sydney: graded divisions, real match play and a friendly, well-run day on court. New events are on the way.
What our tournaments are like
A Play Pickle tournament is competitive but welcoming. You play in a division graded to your level, so every match is a genuine contest rather than a mismatch. There's a mix of social and serious players, all equipment is sorted, and our team runs the draw and schedule so you can just focus on your games.
We run events at venues right across Sydney, indoors and outdoors, from one-day competitions to divisional finals. Whether you're chasing a DUPR result or just want the buzz of match play, there's a place for you.
Formats you'll see
Round robin
Everyone plays everyone in your division, so you get plenty of matches and a fair result over the day.
Doubles ladder
Win and move up, so you're always matched against players at a similar level as the day goes on.
Knockout brackets
Classic single or double elimination for a clear champion, usually for the pointy end of a division.
Graded divisions
Divisions by skill and DUPR rating, so beginners aren't thrown in against advanced players.

Tournament questions
- How do I enter a pickleball tournament in Sydney?
- Watch this page and the Play Pickle app for upcoming tournaments. When one opens, you register online — most events run through the app or our leagues platform. Email hello@playpickle.com.au to be told when the next one is announced.
- What skill level are tournaments for?
- There's usually a division for you. Tournaments are graded by skill and DUPR rating, so intermediate and advanced players get a real contest and newer players can enter beginner or social divisions where they're offered. If you're brand new, start with a social session or a beginner clinic first.
- Do I need a partner for doubles?
- It depends on the format. Some events are individual 'scramble' or ladder formats where you're matched on the day, and others are fixed doubles where you enter with a partner. The event details say which when it's announced.
- Do you use DUPR?
- Yes. Many of our competitive events are DUPR-rated, and you can link your DUPR in the Play Pickle app so your results count towards your rating.
- What should I bring?
- Non-marking court shoes, water, and your own paddle if you have one. No paddle? No problem — we can provide the essential equipment. Divisions, balls and nets are all organised for you.
