Pickleball FAQ
Everything people ask us about playing pickleball in Sydney. If your question isn't here, just ask.
Getting started
- I've never played pickleball. Can I just turn up?
Yes. Book an All Skills or Beginner session and come along. Pickleball is easy to learn, the court is small, and most people are rallying within minutes. Our hosts run you through the rules on the day.
See social play- Do I need my own paddle?
No paddle? No problem! We provide all the essential equipment so you can jump right into the game. Bring court shoes and water, and we'll sort the rest.
Shop paddles and gear- What should I wear?
Whatever you'd wear to the gym, plus non-marking court shoes. Running shoes are fine to start.
- Do I need to bring a partner?
No. Most people come on their own. Games are organised on the day, so you'll play with plenty of different people and meet a few of them properly.
Booking
- How do I book a session?
Book in the Play Pickle app. Create an account, find a session near you, and tap join. It's quick and easy.
Play Now- Is there an app?
Yes. The Play Pickle app handles bookings, in-app chat, secure payments, DUPR linking and waitlist alerts. It works on mobile and desktop.
Play Now- What if a session is full?
Join the waitlist in the app. You'll get an alert if a spot opens up, which happens often.
- Can I cancel a booking?
Yes, through the app. Cancel more than 24 hours before a social session, or more than 7 days before a clinic or coaching program, and the full value is returned to your account as Virtual Credit. Cancel early where you can, so someone on the waitlist gets your spot.

About pickleball
- What is pickleball?
Pickleball is a paddle sport played on a small court with a light plastic ball. It borrows from tennis, badminton and table tennis. It's easy to learn, easy on the body, and it's the world's fastest growing sport.
- Is pickleball hard to learn?
No. That's the whole appeal. The court is a quarter the size of a tennis court and the ball moves slowly, so most people are playing a real game in their first session.
Learn to play- Is it good exercise?
Yes. It's not just about playing, it's about boosting your health, upping your fitness, and having a blast on the court. It's easier on the body than tennis, which is why so many players switch.
