📲 How to Find and Book Pickleball in Sydney With the New Play Pickle App
Exciting news for the Sydney pickleball community! Play Pickle is now launching its very own app — making it easier than ever to find and book pickleball games, coaching, and leagues across Sydney 🎾. Whether you're just getting started or already hooked on the game, the new platform will help you stay organised, connect with your local courts, and play more pickleball.
Starting mid-August 2025, all new bookings will move to the new Play Pickle App — available on iOS, Android, and desktop. Keep reading to find out everything you need to know.
📍 When Is My Venue Switching?
We’re rolling out the app venue-by-venue, starting mid-August. Any sessions already listed in OpenSports will remain there, but all new sessions will only be bookable on the new app.

💳 Got Credit in OpenSports? Here’s How to Transfer It
We’ll be honouring all credit held by players in OpenSports — but you must let us know.
👉 To transfer your credit:
Create a new account on the Play Pickle app.
Message us via in-app chat or email (hello@playpickle.com.au)
We’ll verify your OpenSports credit and apply it to your new account
⏰ Important: You must transfer your credit by 31 October 2025.
After this date, we will no longer have access to OpenSports. Any remaining unclaimed credit will be forfeited.
📲 How to Get the Play Pickle App
The Play Pickle App is available across all platforms:
Apple iOS: Download from App Store
Android (Google Play): Download from Google Play
Web version: http://playpickle.podplay.app
You can also search "Play Pickle" in your app store to find it.
📝 How to Create Your Account
Creating your new account takes less than a minute. You’ll need to enter:
Your name
Email
Mobile number
A valid payment card (note: Apple Pay & Google Pay are not supported yet)
💡 Note: You must create a new account. Your OpenSports login will not carry over.
🔁 Booking and Cancellation Changes
We’ve updated how payments and cancellations work.
✅ Bookings made 6+ days in advance:
Card is charged immediately
Refunds available up to 24 hours before
Refunds may take up to 10 business days
Cancelling multiple sessions = multiple refund transactions
❌ No credit system like in OpenSports (at this time)
⏳ Bookings made less than 6 days before:
Your card will be held (not charged immediately)
Card is charged at the time of the event.
Cancel before 24 hours = hold is released (may take a few days)
Cancel within 24 hours = your card is charged
Please double-check your bookings before confirming - refunds can take 5-10 business days to return.
👥 New Waitlist System
Joining a waitlist is now fairer and more transparent:
All waitlisted players will be notified at the same time if a spot opens via the app and email.
Spots are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis
You are not automatically added — you must confirmand book the spot
💬 In-App Chat
You can now message Play Pickle directly through the in-app chat feature!
To activate chat:
Tap the Account icon
Go to Preferences
Toggle “Enable Community Chat” to ON
Once enabled, you'll get:
Updates from the Play Pickle team
Access to announcements and messages

📈 DUPR Integration
You can now link your DUPR rating to your Play Pickle account. Some sessions may require a minimum DUPR in future — but most sessions remain open to all.
⏱️ Countdown Bookings for Popular Sessions
For our most high-demand sessions, bookings will open at a specific time with a countdown — like buying event tickets. Be ready when the timer hits zero!
